There are two OMAP 4 development board currently available for purchase, the PandaBoard offered through Digi-Key and the Blaze™ Mobile Development Platform offered through SVTronics.
OMAP 4 PandaBoard
The OMAP 4 PandaBoard is offered through Digi-Key (Part number: UEVM4430F-01-00-00-ND) for under $200. Arteris has two of these boards in house. They are meant for software developers who do not require access to advanced options like capacitive touch screens, a QWERTY keyboard, mobile phone modems, or the TI DLP Pico™ projector.
The PandaBoard comes as a bare board, with no power supply or cables. But these are easily available through Digi-Key or nearly any local electronics shop. A thriving online community at www.pandaboard.org maintains a documentation wiki and excellent support through forums. You can also find great information on the PandaBoard and Blaze at www.omappedia.org. For operating systems, choose from Android (Pandroid), Ubuntu, or a Linux Minimal Filesystem.
OMAP 4 Blaze Mobile Development Platform
The OMAP 4 Blaze Mobile Development Platform is very different than the PandaBoard. It is like a large form factor mobile phone and costs about $2,000 from SVTronics. The Blaze has dual capacitive touchscreens, WIFI, Bluetooth, a QWERTY keyboard, and the ability to use mobile phone modem modules. Software and support is through www.omappedia.org, and the same OS options are available as for PandaBoard.
