K. Charles Janac
Chairman, President and Chief Executive Officer
Mr. Janac is president and CEO of Arteris IP where he is responsible for growing and establishing a strong global presence for the company that is pioneering the concept of NoC technology. Charlie’s career spans 20 years and multiple industries including electronic design automation, semiconductor capital equipment, nano-technology, industrial polymers and venture capital.
In the first decade of his career, he held various marketing and sales positions at Cadence Design Systems (NASDAQ: CDNS) where he helped build it into one of the ten largest software companies in the world. He joined HLD Systems as president, shifting the company’s focus from consulting services to IC floor planning software and building the management, distribution and customer support organizations. He then formed Smart Machines, manufacturer of semiconductor automation equipment and sold it to Brooks Automation (NASDAQ: BRKS). After a year as Entrepreneur-in-Residence at Infinity Capital, a leading early-stage Venture Capital firm, where he consulted on Information Technology investment opportunities, he joined Nanomix as president and CEO helping build this start-up nano-technology company.
Mr. Janac holds a B.S. and M.S. degree in Organic Chemistry from Tufts University and an M.B.A from Stanford Graduate School of Business.
Laurent Moll
Chief Operating Officer
Dr. Laurent Moll most recently served as Vice President of Engineering at Qualcomm where he led a 500-person team creating infrastructure IP for Qualcomm’s chips, including NoC interconnects, memory subsystems, cache coherency subsystems and more. Laurent has led a storied career for over two decades, performing key technical roles at industry leaders such as Digital Equipment Corporation, Compaq Computer Corporation, SiByte, Broadcom, Montalvo Systems and NVIDIA. Prior to his nearly 8-year tenure at Qualcomm, he was the Chief Technology Officer at Arteris Inc, a predecessor company of Arteris IP. Throughout his career, he has played an influential role in inventing the system-on-chip architectures, IP subsystems, and methodologies that are today the foundation of modern semiconductor design.
Laurent earned his PhD in Computer Science at École Polytechnique and holds over 60 patents on various aspects of SoC technology.
Nick Hawkins
Chief Financial Officer
Nick Hawkins has worked in multiple sectors over his 30-year career, including Chemicals/Pharmaceuticals, Food, Consulting, Media, and Semiconductors. He most recently was CFO of Corsair Gaming in the consumer electronics space. During his career he held CFO positions for over 20 years in companies ranging in revenue from startups to multi-billion-dollar companies and with privately-owned, private equity-backed, and publicly traded companies.
Nick holds a BSc in Environmental Chemical Engineering from Exeter University in the UK and is a Fellow Chartered Accountant (FCA) with the Institute of Chartered Accountants in England & Wales, gained while working for PwC in London.
Michal Siwinski
Chief Marketing Officer
Michal Siwinski brings more than two decades of B2B technology-based strategy, marketing and growth acceleration from Cadence Design Systems. He held various senior leadership positions, including corporate marketing, product marketing and management, solution marketing, partner marketing, strategic initiatives and customer engagement. Most recently, he served as Corporate Vice President of Marketing and Business Development at Cadence, and through his leadership, the company’s brand and digital image was transformed. Mr. Siwinski directed the strategy and marketing in Cadence’s entry into the intellectual properties (IP), embedded and system domains. Prior to Cadence, he worked at Verplex Systems on new product innovation and Mentor Graphics on IP and SoC design services.
Michal holds a Bachelor of Science in Electrical Engineering and Computer Science from the University of California at Berkeley.
Christel Mauffet-Smith
Executive Vice President of Global Sales
Christel Mauffet-Smith brings more than two decades of successfully leading and building winning teams to deliver growth and customer success in market-leading system IP and semiconductor companies. She has a proven track record of sales excellence, collaborative relationships as well as organizational efficiency. Most recently, she served as a Sales Group Leader at Cadence with global responsibility for sales, customer success and growth of all technologies across key strategic accounts. Previously, she held various sales leadership positions at Ansys and Synopsys, where she built and managed high-performing, cross-functional and multidisciplinary global engineering, sales and field application teams.
Christel holds a Master of Science in Electrical Engineering from École Polytechnique de Nantes.
Paul L. Alpern
Vice President General Counsel
Paul L. Alpern is a Silicon Valley legal veteran who brings over 20 years of global semiconductor, IP licensing, system and software experience to Arteris. He has received awards for innovative business and technology collaborations as in-house counsel, and he has carried out numerous U.S. and global acquisition and complex technology transactions. Paul was VP and General Counsel at Wave Computing and at MIPS Tech, LLC, and prior to that held senior legal positions at SanDisk, Applied Micro, MACOM, MIPS Technologies and Sumitomo Chemical.
Paul, a member of the California, Texas, New York and D.C. bars, graduated Summa Cum Laude in Economics from UC Berkeley and earned his Juris Doctor from Harvard Law School.
